I'm back from my taiwan trip! I bite into juicy 'shui jian bao'. I sipped QQ bubble tea. I met friendly uncles and aunties. I crossed path with fanciful dogs even in the eatery and I slept in the most cozy bed & breakfast inn I ever stayed, accompanied by the most papa-like foriegn cab driver I ever met.

Despite the sore throat and slight gastric pain, the trip was fruitful and fun. I'm glad I didn't give it a miss.

The day we walked Dan Shui was a wet wet day. It started with a morning drizzle which turned into a rainy night. I don't like grey skies...

Sightseeing along the journey from Taipei to Hua Lian was something out of the ordinary. I like the sea, the mountains and the cool wind. The road was bumpy though. To sit at the back of the car was even bumpier. Luckily I had my breakfast. Too many hours of travelling on the rocky road with an empty stomach probably will cause me gastric discomfort, then I would be kept 'busily unwell' the whole day instead of enjoying the great sceneries.

Ming Su stay was fun. Uncle reminded us to let down the curtains at night and gave us a morning wake-up ‘knock’. “Hey xiao peng you, Breakfast time!” he uttered with his cheery voice. It isn’t everyday that a Singaporean could wake up to the sound of chicks chirping and the sight of lavenders blossoming. It was an experience worth tasting, even though insects and bugs were EVERYWHERE.

We bought pineapple tarts from Hua Lian, boxes and boxes of goodies, and on the way back to Jiu Fen we stopped to have our lunch. Uncle couldn’t get a parking lot for his cab right outside the eatery and I was puzzled why he was so persistent. Was he worried that his car would be stolen?

Later on, while our heads were still dazed from the afternoon heat and the napping during the car ride, he said he had our boxes of tarts at the boot of his car and those newly bought goodies shouldn’t be exposed to the heat of the sun. That was why he insisted to park his car under the shelther of the eatery... such a genuine and considerate man, I'm gonna miss him.
